Welcome to Somer Valley Rotary – Making a Difference Locally and Internationally
Somer Valley Rotary is part of a global service organisation of men and women, Rotary International, pledges to help those in need and to serve its communities, using your skills and time to improve lives.
Somer Valley Rotary has played an active part in its local community for 30 years. Since 1995 our members have raised in excess of £170,000 enabling us to make grants to many local projects and groups, spanning all ages, passions and interests. We have also sponsored overseas projects and campaigns, literally changing the lives of those in need.
Most importantly, in achieving this, we have had enormous fun and made many new friends so If YOU are interested in the comradery that Rotary offers, need a platform to make your difference through volunteering or you have a cause or project you are passionate about Somer Valley Rotary is the place to turn your ideas into action.

Our Meetings
We convene twice a month on a Tuesday at 7:30 PM at The Centurion Hotel, Charlton Lane, Midsomer Norton, BA3 4BD. These meetings are followed by an optional meal at 8:30 PM. Additionally, most months we enjoy a social activity at various local venues. Please check our event calendar for updates and for details, please contact us.
Our Mission
Our club is committed to:

Local Community Support: We raise funds and provide practical assistance to local organisations and individuals in need.

International Aid: Collaborating with other Rotary clubs, we participate in global initiatives, including the eradication of polio and disaster relief efforts.
Recent Initiatives
- We’ve maintained our major fundraising activity by volunteering as stewards at the Glastonbury Festival.
- Annually, we assist the British Legion in selling poppies each November, raising over £1,000 in recent years.
- We support Rotary “Kids Out” where children chosen by their school are taken for a day out to Longleat.
- During the Christmas season, we aid the local Lions Club with their Carol Float collection.For Five years, we created and ran the local Wessex Beer Festival.
- In 2019, we collected over 6,000 used school books from local primary schools and shipped them to a primary school in Kenya, partnering with the charity Just Be A Child based in Stevenage.
